I've decided to do something different at Champion City Comics. Starting today, I will incorporate a 'Song of the Day' feature at our site because you need a daily dose of great music. We've had our Sunday Song Selection before, but after two years I feel a change is something good.
Let me make a few things clear. This is daily feature is a benevolent dictatorship of rock and roll and by no means a democracy. I don't take requests and I do not always select songs to fit perfectly with the "This day in music history" crap. Yes, I have an attitude, but you'll learn to love me.
My first selection for the daily feature is 'Bastards of Young' by The Replacements, or 'Mats. Shame on you for not knowing this overlooked American rock band from Minneapolis, MN. All you need to know is that they incorporated everything from punk to garage rock to classic rock to pop rock. The Replacements were the best band of the 1980s, but you wouldn't have known it because the industry fed the masses a potpourri of musical garbage during the 1980s. If you want to know more about this band then check out Color Me Impressed.
Why this song? I feel we've always had an attitude here at Champion City Comics. We want to be the best webcomics group, period. We have gained an impressive following and feel like we've done things our way to the dismay of a handful of haters. 'Bastards of Young' captures what I've felt at times by climbing the ladder of success one rung at a time.
TonyDoug Wright is the owner and editor of Champion City Comics. His webcomics include Dr Death vs The Zombie, The End of Paradise, and Day 165.
